Rosina Gannon

Head of Student Services

Having always had a love of the arts, books and education Rosina enjoyed the privilege of working as a teacher in a great variety of schools both in Australia and overseas. She has also managed to combine this with stints in the Australia Theatre and Television industry.

Graduating from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Education in 1983, Rosina initially worked in a Victorian country secondary school before relocating to Melbourne to gain employment as an actor with a number of theatre companies as well as completing a Diploma of Acting.  Rosina continued to hone both her skills as a part time teacher and performer in the Metropolitan area.  Along with three other performers she later established her own company  ‘Four on the Floor’, writing and producing devised works for festivals and local theatres.  Rosina has also worked as a storyliner for Neighbours with the Freemantle Network.

Rosina had the opportunity to travel to China in 2001 to teach at Wuxi Middle School No. 2  for three months. This was an extraordinary cultural and educational experience, with classrooms of 65 students!  She sought another volunteer teaching opportunity, travelling to Tanzania’s, Edmund Rice Secondary School in 2004 teaching young African boys and girls in their first year of secondary school – some who were 20 years of age! It was here she really learnt to value the power of education and its importance in the lives of young people.
