NEW HARPSICHORD

We're thrilled to announce the arrival of a two-manual French-style harpsichord! Crafted in Istanbul in 1999 by Victorian harpsichord maker Douglas Brooke, this stylish instrument marks an exciting new chapter for our music department.

The addition of a fully functioning two-manual keyboard significantly enhances the learning experience for our three harpsichord students. In particular, with its wider range and tonal possibilities, this instrument will be invaluable for our first-ever VCE harpsichord student, providing the opportunity to prepare a range of challenging repertoire for her upcoming performance examination.

Beyond individual study, the harpsichord's fuller, more resonant sound will enrich a wide range of ensembles at VCASS. Its transposing feature also opens up exciting possibilities for exploring authentic Baroque performance practices in the future.

We are incredibly appreciative of this wonderful acquisition and look forward to hearing the beautiful music it will inspire within our school community.
