NOTRE-DAME AUGMENTED EXHIBITION
Our Year 7 students recently attended the Notre-Dame de Paris: The Augmented Exhibition at the Immigration Museum. This immersive experience uses innovative technology to explore the cathedral’s rich history, architecture, and the restoration efforts following the 2019 fire.
Guided by the interactive HistoPad—a handheld device that brings historical sites to life—students journeyed through key moments in Notre-Dame’s 850-year timeline. Through detailed 3d reconstructions and 360-degree visuals, they gained new perspectives on the significance and enduring legacy of this iconic monument.
The students were captivated by the experience. Oscar said, “I wondered what Notre-Dame was like, as it's such a historical place of significance—like how Napoleon got crowned Emperor at Notre-Dame.” Judy noted, “I thought augmented reality helped people understand the story of Notre-Dame by showing the cathedral in 3d so we can see more features—the way we can zoom in and out.” Garim reflected, “This exhibition made me think about the importance of preserving historical buildings because behind all the fancy decor and stuff, the building had a purpose and history that affected people.”
The visit offered an opportunity to connect classroom learning with a digital exploration of French cultural heritage, and students responded with curiosity and thoughtful reflection. We’re proud of the thoughtful insights our students brought back from this unique experience. Thank you to Ms Sage and Mr Rust, who accompanied the students on the day et merci à l’Immigration Museum pour cette belle découverte.
