GSD. AT SCHOOL E-CONFERENCE

On Thursday 30 May, year 11 students Jay and Toby and year 8 students Mina and Marcus participated in the cross-school Gender and Sexual Diversity e-Conference. They explored in-person workshops with staff and students from 26 Victorian schools to consider how school environments can better cater for diverse students and be more inclusive. Students enjoyed meeting peers and listening to conversations on Pride events, underlying cultural bias, empowering visibility and practical solutions to counter pushback and negativity. Our students proudly represented VCASS and whilst commenting on the excellent initiatives and welcoming spaces already at VCASS, noticed structural issues such as separate lunchtimes and busy schedules are room for improvement for more collaborative Pride networking at VCASS.
