YEAR 7-9 ACTIVITIES WEEK

On Monday 11th of December Activities Week kicked off with a visit to Docklands. Our Junior students explored the world of optical illusions at ArtVo, resulting in many fun photos, and then spent the afternoon at the O'Brien IceHouse. All students threw themselves into ice skating with grace and enthusiasm. For some this meant spins and jumps but for most others meant lots of time down on the ice. It was an afternoon of infectious smiles and lots of laughter. 

 

On Tuesday all Junior students enjoyed the opportunity to perform some festive songs for family and friends in the VCASS Christmas concert at Scots Church in the CBD. It was a wonderful day to celebrate our community.

 

On Wednesday students spent the day at the Melbourne Zoo. A highlight was seeing the baby elephant and its herd before they move to their new habitat at Werribee Zoo next year. Students enjoyed seeing the gorillas and spent lots of time exploring the reptile house. 

 

We started Thursday with an unexpected fire evacuation turned impromptu dance lesson at the Malthouse/ACCA courtyard ahead of the junior social, lead by Nico Lundqvist and Mika Reiss. When we returned to school Ms Demasi held her beloved and competitive VCASS Annual Quiz. 

 

Thursday evening saw students walk the red carpet with an air of mystery for VCASS' Masquerade Ball. The night was filled with many photobooth photos, lots of singing and dancing, and an exciting round of the limbo. 

 

Our final day of term started off with a walk down to Dorcas St where students stocked the Food Pantry full of generously donated canned and shelf-stable food. We returned to VCASS for a fabulous BBQ cooked up by Phil before our final assembly for the year. This assembly, led by Grace Annan and Mila Rigazzi, celebrated the year that was 2023 and also highlighted student achievement in a number of maths competitions. The assembly concluded with everyone singing carols as is VCASS tradition. This was led by David Jones-Lerdprakun on piano and Kazuki Pincheira, Sonakshi Prasad, Keeley Abrahamson, Siyona Goel, Mina Vodeb and Hannah Zou on vocals. It was a wonderful way to finish off the year and to celebrate our students.
