START SWIMMING

By James Fritz’s

ACADEMIC THEATRE STUDIES | YEAR 12 | AUDIENCE

THURSDAY 28 MAY @ 6:00pm

VCASS Recital Room | 57 Miles Street Southbank VIC 3006

James Fritz’s critically acclaimed Start Swimming is abstract and surreal, hilarious and confronting. Part gameshow, part existential dread – in his script, there are no characters and no stage directions – every creative decision left up to us to decide. In this world, the rules are unknown. Is it worth taking risks when one error can destroy everything? How can we fight the unseen powers manipulating us, when the rules keep changing?

This play is proudly presented by the Academic Theatre Studies class of 2026.
