VCASS Jazz: Award Wins & Upcoming Festivals

It has been a busy term for our current and past musicians performing at a number of Melbourne Jazz Festivals.

Port Fairy Jazz Festival Success Congratulations to Year 11 student Arthur, who took home 1st Place in the John Huff Award! As the youngest of five finalists, Arthur performed against musicians up to age 25—an incredible feat at just 16 years old. He was accompanied by alumni Jay-Keane Lee, Cam Edwards and Year 11 Music student Ethan.  We also celebrate Jay who took first place, Ethan 2nd place, and Cam Edwards Third place in the John Huff Awards at the 2025 Port Fairy Festival Festival.

Geelong Jazz Festival (March): Exit Left (Jay, Cam, Ethan, and alumnus Will Marken) along with Alumnus Tony Yang and his band performed in the Emerging Talents section.

Generations in Jazz (Early May): We wish the best of luck to The Exit Left Trio (Jay, Arthur, and Ethan) who have entered the Small Ensemble category and our many students who have applied for the prestigious James Morrison Scholarship.

We are incredibly proud of our students and alumni representing VCASS on the big stage. If you’re heading to Generations in Jazz at Mt Gambier, be sure to catch them in action!
