Welcome to the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School

Our Dance, Music and Visual and Theatre Arts programs are world's best practice. The school's unique structure and culture enables secondary age students to concentrate on Music, Dance, Visual and Theatre Arts without jeopardising academic success. We have an eclectic mix of staff who are passionate about arts education and students that love what they do.

As you look through our website, the unique nature of our school will become clear. What is more difficult to impart is the very special culture that exists within our artistic community and the positiveness of our lives together each day. Our students are a close knit and supportive body of young people and each individual is a valued member of the VCA Secondary School family of students, parents and teachers. Our Instagram account @VCASecondarySchool was designed to reflect our life each day. 

Our school offers opportunities to talented young dancers and musicians to combine their specialist training needs with a high quality education from Year 7 through to Year 12. We also have a Visual Arts Program and Theatre Arts Program for Year 11 and 12 students. We are also the academic provider to highly gifted young people from the Australian Ballet School and Gymnastics Victoria.

Our VCE (Unit 3 and 4) results see us ranked among the top schools in the State for Victorian Certificate of Education achievement, matching the best schools in the country. For the last decade we have been in the top ten government schools.

We have a very high expectation of commitment from our students, not only to their specialist area but also to their academic studies. We offer a complete program and students are expected to aim for excellence in all areas of the curriculum - academic and specialist - student leadership and community connections.

We thank the Victorian Government through the Department of Education for providing this unique training opportunity to the talented young people who gain entry to our programs. The Dance and Music enrolment attracts a unique scholarship to pay for the dance and music classroom teaching.

Graduates from our school gain placements and perform at the highest levels in Australia and throughout the world. Explore our Hall of Fame to see some examples of success.

The Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School aspires to be one of the finest schools for talented young dancers, musicians, theatre and visual artists internationally, through the provision of innovative, creative and excellent programs.

Our students will be resilient, self-confident, creative, passionate and compassionate individuals, who will have developed beyond their expectations. They will be significant contributors to the artistic and cultural life of Australia, as well as at an international level.
