2024 LUNAR NEW YEAR CELEBRATION

VCASS students celebrated the Lunar New Year with a lively entertaining assembly on Thursday the 8th of February. 

To kick off the assembly, the students had a wonderful, novel experience taking in the bright, vibrant colours and energetic drum beat of the traditional Lion Dance. They learned about the origin of the Lunar New Year. The story of Nian, the vicious monster who was scared of loud noises, fire and the colour red — and how it shaped the traditions of the Lunar Festival. And the entertaining, comedic play from the Theatre Arts students on the story behind the 12 zodiac animals. The assembly ended with a beautiful piano trio rendition of The Butterfly Lovers from 3 music students. 

All students were given a red pocket containing lovely messages symbolising good wishes and luck for the year ahead.
